Capsule Collection: Girl on the Go
Many clients come to me with one simple ask — to help them dress for daily wear in a more thoughtful yet efficient manner. My solution — to build out a daily wear, “girl on the go” capsule collection.
This collection of clothing and accessories should be versatile, cohesive, and timeless while suiting your personal style and lifestyle needs.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to building one:
1. Define Your Style & Needs
Identify your daily activities (work, children’s events, errands, date nights, etc.)
Choose a color palette that works well together (e.g., neutral tones with a few accent colors) — I tend to lean into off-white, tans, light browns, blues, and greens
Determine your preferred style (classic, minimalist, casual-chic, edgy, etc.) — allow your closet to guide you by beginning to pull the items toward which you’re most drawn right now
2. Focus on Quality Over Quantity
As you shop your closet, make the most of what’s already present
Should you need to add new pieces, create a list of gaps to ensure you purchase with intention
Invest in well-made pieces that will last multiple seasons, including accessories to add visual interest to any outfit
Stick to timeless silhouettes and pieces that won’t go out of style any time soon
3. Establish, Organize & Rotate Seasonally
Establish your seasonal daily wear collection
Maintain a clean closet by decluttering regularly
Place off-season items in their own section to keep your vision clear
4. With all of this in mind, it’s time to Begin Choosing Core Clothing Pieces, starting with essential items that can mix and match easily:
>> Tops & layers (8)
3 basic shirts (silk tank for layering, short sleeve white tee, white button-down)
3 statement tops (patterned blouse, structured top, short sleeve cardigan)

1 pair of light blue jeans (to be worn with flats)
